Summary: 

As a dentist with Grace Health, you will play a key role in providing quality dental care and achieving optimal health for our patients and communities served. You will perform comprehensive dentistry, which emphasizes preventive care through dental education and clinical measures. You will develop treatment plans appropriate for each patient, and complete treatment plans in a competent, efficient manner. You will be responsible for promoting the mission of Grace Health, advocating for community healthcare efforts, and participating in integrative healthcare initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communication: Conveys information accurately and efficiently.  Written communication is direct, concise, and easy to understand.

  • Diagnosing oral diseases by appropriate examination, obtaining and interpreting x-rays of diagnostic quality, and completing indicated diagnostic testing.
  • Promoting oral health and disease prevention through dental education and clinical quality measures.
  • Creating treatment plans to maintain or restore the oral health of our patients while incorporating their desires and needs.
  • Completing treatment plans in a competent, efficient manner while maintaining quality of care.
  • Monitoring growth and development of the teeth and jaws.
  • Performing oral health interventions in a professional, competent manner. 
  • Maintaining competency in skills and remaining current with professional practice guidelines.
  • Providing referrals for a continuum of care into a specialty care setting.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical/dental records of all patients in accordance with Grace Health’s policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Keeps records that are adequately detailed, truthful, clear and accurate to support continuity of patient care and accurate billing (coding of diagnoses, services provided, and charges). 
  • Completes records in a timely manner to avoid delay in billing processes.
  • Traveling to school-based clinics and other Grace Health Dental sites to meet operational needs.
  • Providing clinical services and health education to improve oral health of students served in our school-based clinics.
  • Reviewing and following all dental clinic protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Providing excellent customer service to all internal and external patients.
  • Providing positive input with patients and families to ensure compliance with treatment recommendations.
  • Exercising direct supervision of assigned/designated dental assistants and hygienists.
  • Attending dental provider meetings and participating in topics of discussion.
  • Providing professional consultation to other providers when needed.
  • Participate in Grace Health Outreach health promotion/disease prevention activities, both on-site and off-site as required.
  • Maintain all dental department areas in compliance with dental department protocols relative to infection control, exposure control, and safety issues.
  • Follow CDC and OSHA guidelines for safety and infection control, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions.
  • Follow proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Knowledgeable of clinical quality measures and works closely with quality assurance staff for reporting.
  • Understands population health and works collaboratively with health care team to promote health and wellness.
  • Collaborate with Dental Director and other professional staff members in development and periodic updating of standards of care, principles of practice, standing orders, clinical protocols, support staff job descriptions, and other dental policies.
  • When possible, cooperate with professional and allied health training programs in developing on-site training opportunities for their students and residents.
  • Assists in recruitment and orientation of new professional and support staff.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of dental care, including HIPPA compliance.
  • Provide call coverage for after hours

  • Team members will participate in the review and evaluation processes of practice performance and help to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Team members will participate in Grace Health's advocacy program

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Maintains good attendance (daily, meetings, and other assignment tasks)

  • Routinely keeps supervisor informed about attendance and job assignments

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • Must have Dental or be license-eligible in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Typically, this includes a Doctor of Dental surgery or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from an accredited university.
  • DEA License
  • Certified in CPR
  • Additional experience, certifications, or licensing may be required.
  • Willingness to comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding dental and health care.
  • Must be competent using electronic dental record.
  • Must complete and maintain documentation of continuing education requirements.
